Few Cheap Flights and Low-Cost Budget Airlines at SXB in Alsace
Flights to Strasbourg Airport (SXB) in Alsace, France are mostly not cheap as low-cost budget airlines do not fly to Alsace. Trains and other airports offer cheaper options.

Strasbourg Airport (Aéroport de Strasbourg Entzheim – SXB) is conveniently located only around 10 km to the southwest of Strasbourg. SXB is only the seventh busiest airport in France and thus serve only a limited number of destinations. Low-cost budget airlines do not fly to Strasbourg and as a result flights are often expensive and aimed at the business rather than the leisure traveler. For cheap deals and bargain flights it is often necessary to fly via Basel or to take the train.
Use major internet reservation services to compare prices, as deals may be available on quiet days. Paris to Strasbourg is often an expensive flight but the expense may be minimal when the flight is part of an international connecting flight routed via Paris.

Strasbourg in Alsace, France is an important industrial center and houses several European Union institutions. However, the top tourist sights include the romantic, medieval old town, half-timbered houses, one of Europe’s greatest High Gothic cathedrals, top museums, and a joie-de-vie ambiance in endless bistros, restaurants, and outdoor street cafés.
Hotel prices in Strasbourg vary according to activities of especially the European Union institutions – when no major meeting and conferences are staged, luxury hotels in especially the outskirts of the town center can be very cheap. Hotels in smaller Alsace towns are also very pleasant especially when driving and not relying on public transportation. Use major internet hotel reservation services to compare prices and try and determine when hotels are full – huge savings can be had by traveling a week earlier or later than major events.

Strasbourg Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre Dame de Strasbourg) is a superb example of Late High Gothic architecture and art to make it one of Europe’s greatest churches.. Although only one of its towers was completed, this tower was for centuries the highest man-made construction in the world. The cathedral is in the heart of the UNESCO World Culture Heritage listed old town of Strasbourg and one of the top sights to see in the Alsace region of France.

Trains, Buses, and Flying to Straßburg from London, Paris, and Germany
Transportation to Strasbourg in France is fast but not always cheap on trains (TGV and ICE), Eurolines buses, and flights (to SXB) from London, Paris, Germany, and European cities.

Transportation to Strasbourg in Alsace (Straßburg in Elsaß in German) on the French-German border has not always been particularly fast or cheap. The French high-speed TGV trains only recently started services to Alsace to bring Strasbourg within easy two hour reach from Paris. Flights to Strasbourg Airport (SXB) are relatively expensive and priced with the business traveler in mind. Leisure travelers, especially on intercontinental flights, may often find flights to nearby airports in Germany and Switzerland cheaper and ground transportation from these centers easier than to travel through airports in Paris.
