Only KD does a Mainz to Cologne day cruise on the Rhine but only during the high season. See http://www.european-traveler.com/germany/loreley-valley-rhine-river-day-cruises-germany/ for more information. This trip is around 11 hours long.

Personally, I consider cruising from Rüdesheim to Koblenz (or even a shorter distance) and doing the rest of the journey by train a better idea, especially if you want to visit castles (the Marksburg is easily the best authentic castle along the Rhine) or small towns en route.

I'm looking for a good one-day cruise from Mainz to Cologne, with no or very few intermediate stops. My wife and I are historians, so the more history and culture, the better. Suggestions?

Thanks for publishing european top ten of car sales. But why only top ten? It would be so interesting to have informations about top 20 or top 50 in order to see, what is happening with larger cars and so on.
Greetings from Germany.

Comment on Transportation to Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL) by Henk Bekker

The easiest way, taking around 30 minutes, from Tegel Airport (TXL) to Zentrale Omnibusbahnhof (ZOB Berlin) am Funkturm is:

From Tegel (TXL) take bus 109 towards Berlin Zoologischer Garten Bahnhof and get off at Charlottenburg S Bahnhof – 10 stops / 17 minutes.

Change here to bus M49 (direction Staaken / Reimerweg/Heerstr/Nennhauser Damm) and get off at the fourth stop Messedam/ZOB/ICC, which is directly in front of the bus station.

(Note that the stop for bus M49 at Charlottenburg is in Kant St, while bus 109 stops in Friedrich St, you probably have to walk a bit back but it is an easy change.)

These buses are available a few times per hour from around 6 am to 10 pm.
