Red Guide to the Top Best Swiss Star & Bib Gourmand Restaurants and Hotels
The Michelin Switzerland 2010 Red Guide, or gourmet bible, has been released with tips and reviews of the best Swiss three star and bib gourmand restaurants and hotels.
The Michelin Switzerland 2010 Red Guide to the best Swiss hotels and restaurants has been released for sale in Switzerland. Although Switzerland has only two three-star restaurants, an overall total of 101 Michelin stars assure that Switzerland has the highest number of Michelin stars per capita. Michelin increased one restaurant to two stars and added eight new one-star restaurants to the Switzerland guide.
Top Michelin Star Restaurants Listed in the Switzerland Red Guide 2010
The 2010 Michelin Switzerland Red Guide to the best restaurants and hotels leaves the number of top restaurants at only two three star restaurants. Michelin has hinted that the two-star Schauenstein in Fürstenau (Graubünden) is being watched for a possible upgrade to the highest three-star category.
Anne-Sophie Pic in Lausanne (Vaud / Waadt) was awarded a second star to bring the tally of Swiss two-star restaurants to thirteen. Auberge de Floris in Anières (Geneva) and Homann’s Restaurant in Samnaun (Graubünden) were mentioned in the Rising Star category.
New Michelin Star Restaurants in Switzerland 2010
The number of Michelin one-star restaurants in Switzerland increased from 66 to 69 restaurants. Six of the eight new comers are in French-speaking Switzerland with three in Geneva alone.
The new Michelin one-star restaurants in Switzerland are:
- Le Chat Botte in Geneva
- Rasoi by Vineet in Geneva
- Vertig’O in Geneva
- Sankt Meinrad in Zurich
- Sein in Zurich
- c21 in Champery (Vaud / Waadt)
- Le Trianon in Mont-Pelerin (Vaud / Waadt)
- Auberge de L’Onde in Vevey (Vaud / Waadt)
Rasoi by Vineet is the first Indian food restaurant awarded a Michelin star in Switzerland.
Michelin Bib Gourmand Restaurants & Bib Hotels
The Michelin 2010 Switzerland Red Guide lists 72 Bib Gourmand restaurants (13 new) and 43 Bib hotels (2 new). To qualify as a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant in Switzerland, the restaurant must provide excellent food at a price of less than Sfr60 (USD $60) for a three-course meal. Michelin Bib hotels in Switzerland must provide accommodation and breakfast for two at a price of less than Sfr180 (USD $180).
MICHELIN Guide Switzerland 2010
The Michelin Guide Switzerland 2010 lists 1,562 restaurants and hotels. It is already on sale in Switzerland at a whopping CHF37 (USD $36) and will be on sale in France from mid-December 2010. In comparison, the Switzerland 2009 guide sells for just over $20 in the USA and £13 in the UK – expect similar prices for the 2010 guide once available early 2010. Similar pricing policy pushes up the price for Michelin Deutschland 2010 for German consumers.
