By Bus to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL, MLH, EAP)
Buses are usually the easiest way to travel to Basel Airport:
- Basel Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) can be reached in 15 minutes on very frequent buses (up to every 7.5 minutes during peak hours). Buses run from around 5 am to midnight. Basel has excellent rail connections to other Swiss cities as well as services to Alsace and Germany.
- Mulhouse / Mühlhausen Gare (Station) is half an hour by bus from Basel Airport. The airport buses run about every 90 minutes.
- The easiest connection to the French railway system is to take the Distribus from Basel Airport to Gare SNCF (station) in nearby St Louis. The Distribus takes only 8 minutes and runs few times per hour between Basel Airport and Gare SNCF St Louis, France. From St Louis, it is just over an hour by direct local train to Strasbourg with stops in amongst others Mulhouse (15 minutes) and Colmar (40 minutes). (High-speed TGV trains do not stop in St Louis but do in Basel.)
- Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany) in the German Black Forest can be reached by direct bus up to 15 times per day in around an hour.
Basel Airport is popular with low-cost airlines making BSL a popular destination for cheap flights. Basel Airport is a good airport to fly to when visiting not only Basel but also Alsace in France and the Black Forest in Germany.
