Hotel Review Family-Friendly Novotel Luxembourg Centre

Save on Weekends when Staying Close to the Center of Luxemburg

The Novotel Luxembourg Centre is a new comfortable, four star hotel in a modern building close to the center of Luxemburg. Great savings rates are available on quiet weekends.

Novotel Luxembourg Centre

The Novotel Luxembourg Centre is conveniently located a few minutes’ walk or an easy drive from Luxemburg station and old town. The hotel is brand new and thus features the present modern and comfortable Novotel look and furnishings. The Novotel Luxembourg Centre aims mostly at business travelers but the hotel is surprisingly child friendly and great value for families, especially over weekend when cheap savings rates are available on advance reservations.

The Modern Novotel Luxembourg Centre

Novotel Luxembourg Centre is a brand new hotel across the valley from the old town and fortifications of Luxemburg City. The hotel is a modern glass and steel box what it lacks in character or charm it does make up in comfort, and with early reservations, keen prices.

The bedrooms at the Novotel Luxembourg Centre are in the current Novotel layout and look – light grayish colors and light wood that looks both modern and classy. A comfortable double bed is complemented by a double sleeper coach that is fairly comfortable and quite comfortable for smaller children. In line with most other Novotel, two children up to 16 years old sleep for free when sharing the room with their parents.

The bathroom is modern and light with bright lightening. The shower was powerful and the shower door moderately successful in keeping the floor dry. Like other Novotel hotels, the Novotel Luxembourg Centre does not skimp on the number of towels or free toiletries and more than sufficient were available for a family of four. A separate toilet is convenient but rather irritatingly does not feature its own washing basin.

Rooms are a convenient size but like other Novotel hotels in the current look with somewhat limited storage space for clothes – fine for a night or two but for longer stays it would be an inconvenience. The views of the courtyard are not particularly inspired and probably not much better for rooms at the opposite side of the building either. For great views, stay at the Sofitel but be prepared to pay for the privilege too.

WiFi is available but charged – a free PC with internet is available at the lobby. The restaurant is like other Novotel restaurants not particularly inspiring but quite sufficient if not feeling like going out for dinner.

Cheap Rates at the Novotel Luxembourg Centre

The Novotel is often the more expensive of the hotel brands that Accor likes to group together at the same location or even same building. In Luxemburg, however, the Novotel is the cheaper brand as the Sofitel just around the corner is the flagship property getting the best views towards the old town and bastions too.

The standard room rate, or flex plus rate as Accor Hotels prefer to call it, at the Novotel Luxembourg Centre is around €180 per night for two without breakfast. However, advance reservations can easily see the rate drop to around €85 with a full buffet breakfast included for two adults (and free for two children up to 16). For families with small children, the Novotel then become a downright bargain.

The Novotel Luxembourg Centre is to the south of the old town across the deep valley. Walking from the hotel to the old town takes around 10 to 15 minutes with great views most of the way. Drivers can mostly avoid having to travel through the old town itself. From the hotel to the airport is probably 15 minutes by car while the train station is only minutes away.

Sufficient parking is available in a large parking garage underneath the hotel. However, the parking garage is independently managed and thus needs separate payments and somewhat irritatingly no direct access is available from inside the hotel.

Many transportation options are available for traveling to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Luxemburg city has an interesting old town with important fortifications that are inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. The American Cemetery and Memorial with the graves of General George Patton and over 5,000 other US military personnel who died in the region during the Second World War is an easy drive from the Novotel in the suburb Hamm near the airport.
