The Michelin Switzerland Hotel and Restaurant 2016 guide described a record 841 hotels and 944 restaurants. Stars were awarded to 116 restaurant while a record third restaurant in Switzerland received three stars – Cheval Blanc in Basel joined Schauenstein in Fürstenau (Graubünden) and Restaurant de l’Hôtel de Ville in Crissier (Vaud) as one of the hundred best restaurants in the world.
