Michelin’s 2011 red guide of top hotels and star restaurants in the Netherlands sees an increase in Bib Gourmand restaurants offering value for money gourmet dining.
[Update: The Michelin 2012 Netherlands Red Guide is now available.]
The Michelin 2011 Red Guide Netherlands / Nederland sees little change in the listing of top restaurants from the 2010 guide but an increase in the number of Bib Gourmand restaurants. Gourmets can still enjoy Michelin three-star dining only at two restaurants in the Netherlands while the number of two-star restaurants in the Netherlands was reduced to 13 for the 2011 listing.
In total, the Michelin 2011 Red Guide Netherlands / Nederland reviewed 566 hotels and 643 restaurants. The Michelin Netherlands / Nederland red guide is bilingual with all reviews in both Dutch and English.
With Michelin stars awarded to 98 restaurants in the Netherlands, Dutch cooking clearly has come of age. In comparison, for 2011 Michelin awarded 114 restaurants in Belgium and 113 restaurants in Switzerland with stars. All three these countries have only two Michelin three-star restaurants.
