The interior of the dome at the crossing of San Lorenzo is painted with a fresco showing Florentine Saints in Glory (1742) by Vicenzo Meucci. The external dome is covered by a square arcaded gallery and cannot easily be seen in contrast to the huge cupola covering the Medici Chapel.
