Blue Virgin in Chartres Cathedral

Public transportation is cheap from Paris to see the magnificent stained-glass window of Chartres Cathedral including the Blue Virgin

The “Blue Virgin” is amongst the oldest stained-glass windows in Chartres Cathedral. It dates from the original Romanesque church and was reincorporated in the newer Gothic church. The “Blue Virgin” and upper parts of the window dates from 1180 with the lower sections from 1225. In contrast to other windows in the church, here a single scene is spread over several frames.
