Facade and Campanile of Santa Maria Novella in Florence

The marble facade of Santa Maria Novella is actually a Renaissance original. It was designed by Leon Battista Alberti in 1470. He incorporated parts of the original Gothic facade but blended in the geometric patterns and ideas of the Renaissance.
