Rembrandt – The Abduction of Ganymede

Rembrandt - The Abduction of Ganymede

Rembrandt avoided the homoerotic by painting Ganymede as a (fat) baby wetting himself while being carried away in the claws of the eagle. The baby is bare-bottom but Rembrandt took extra care with the clothing and even signed the work on the hem of the shirt in the center of the painting. (This Rembrandt is in the Zwinger in Dresden.)
