Illerup Ådal Weapons

September 20, 2016 by Henk Bekker

Illerup Ådal Weapons in Moersgaard

The huge collection of prehistoric weapons sunk into the Illerup Ådal lake in Denmark is an important part of the Iron Age exhibition in the Moesgaard Museum near Aarhus in Denmark. Following what must have been one of the largest battles (around AD 205) in Scandinavia during prehistoric times, the victors deliberately broke weapons in around 15,000 pieces and sunk them into the lake.
