The Galleria dell’ Accademia di Firenze (Gallery of the Academy in Florence) is world-famous for the David statue of Michelangelo that is on permanent display under a glass cupola in the heart of the gallery. David is the top work to see here, and some would say the only piece worth the effort but that is unkind yet understandable in a city with so many other fine museums, galleries, and art-filled churches.
