Crucifix by Giotto and Tornabuoni Chapel in Santa Maria Novella

A huge 578 x 406 cm crucifix by Giotto— an early work from around 1280 of tempura and gold painted on wood — hangs in the Santa Maria Novella church in Florence. The frescoes in the Tornabuoni Chapel in the background were painted by Domenico Ghirlandaio from 1485 to 1490.
