The Floriade Expo is an international horticultural exhibition held only once per decade in the Netherlands. In 2022, the Floriade Expo is staged from 14 April to 9 October 2022 in Almere near Amsterdam. Although the main exhibitions are gardening in general with endless plants, flowers, vegetables, and fruits, Floriade Expo 2022 has as theme “Growing Green Cities” with developments not only in the fields of greenery but also in food, health, and energy. Floriade Expo 2022 should not be confused with FloraHolland flower market in Aalsmeer or Keukenhof flower park. Buy skip-the-line tickets in advance or book tours from Amsterdam.

Transportation to Floriade Expo 2022 from Amsterdam

Transportation to Floriade Expo 2022 is surprisingly cumbersome. Many visitors will probably arrive in tour groups to take advantage of group entry prices but also the ease of transportation. Tour buses drop visitors right at the entrance — public transportation and private cars always need a bus or boat transfer.

Basic tour options from Amsterdam with Floriade admission tickets include a return bus transfer from central Amsterdam while it is also possible to add a detour via Zaanse Schans with its famous windmills. More tour options may be added such as canal cruises and 5D experiences, while further ideas are likely to become available during the summer season.

Public Transportation to Floriade Expo 2022

The basic transportation option to the Floriade Expo 2022 is to take a train to Almere Centrum station — traveling time from Amsterdam Centraal is 20 to 30 minutes on very frequent trains. Many direct trains are also available from other Dutch cities including Schiphol, Den Haag, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Eindhoven, Alkmaar, and Maastricht. The Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket (ARTT) is valid on the Amsterdam (and Schiphol) to Almere routing but not the Amsterdam GVB Public Transport Ticket.

From Almere Centrum railway station, take either the Floriade shuttle bus (€5 return) to the exhibition grounds, or walk ten minutes (well signposted) to the south of the station and then the boat (€4.50 return) directly to the exhibition grounds. For the shuttle bus, use an OV-chipcard or buy an allGo bus ticket from the red vending machine at the station.

The shuttle bus, shuttle boat, and parking tickets are also available online.

By car, use exit 6, Almere, on highway A6 and follow signs to the Floriade parking. The €14.50 parking fee per day includes the return shuttle bus to the exhibition grounds.

Floriade Expo 2022 should not be confused with FloraHolland flower market in Aalsmeer or Keukenhof flower park that is only open in spring.
