The mihrab and maqsura are the artistic highlights of the Mezquita Mosque-Cathedral in Cordoba. they were created in the 960s when the Caliphate of Cordoba was at the height of its powers. The Emperor in Constantinople provided artisans to create these mosaics in the typical Byzantine style.

The Mezquita Mosque-Cathedral is the top sight to see in Cordoba, Andalusia. Opening hours are long, tickets are only sold on-site, or as part of tours. Early morning admission is free.
