Hell or Inferno Fresco

Hell Fresco in Pisa

The Hell / Inferno fresco in the Camposanto Cemetery in Pisa is purely scenes from Dante’s Divine Comedy. These frescoes were painted by Francesco Traini and Bonamico Buffalmacco around 1340.

At the center is the three-faced Satan. He consumes and defecates the condemned alive. Many further punishments are dished out by other demons and devils.
