Antwerpen Kathedraal

June 3, 2014 by Henk Bekker

Antwerp Cathedral

Antwerp Cathedral in Belgium is the largest Gothic church in the Netherlands. It also has the tallest church spire in Belgium – this belfry is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list with more than 50 other similar belfries in Belgium and France. The church here is seen from Groenplein with a statue of local artist Peter Paul Rubens. The cathedral has four of his masterpieces. Also note the curious onion-shaped topping to the crossing and the south tower that was never completed.
