Knochenhaueramthaus in Hildesheim

Knochenhaueramthaus on Markt in Hildesheim

The Knochenhaueramthaus (Butchers Guild) in Hildesheim is one of the largest half-timbered buildings in the world. It was destroyed in the air raid of 1945 but rebuilt in the 1980s true to its original design of 1529. The smaller Bäckeramthaus (Bakers Guild) is similarly a reconstruction of a mid-fifteenth century building.
