A show cheese market is held on the Markt at the back of the historic Gouda town hall (stadhuis) for the benefit of tourists on Thursday mornings from April to August.
Some traditional dress is worn and the cheese makers are usually willing to pose for photos. Free samples are given out but larger cheese can be bought for very cheap from other stands on the market square. It is fun and adds color to Gouda.
