The Alhambra in Granada was the final stronghold of the Moorish rulers of Al Andalus in Spain. It is the most-impressive example of Moorish architecture in Europe and one of the top sights to see in Spain and Andalusia.

The Alhambra complex consists of the following main sights: the Nasrid Palaces, Alcazaba fort, Generalife recreational palace and the formal gardens.

The Nasrid Palaces are the most impressive buildings in the Alhambra. This top sight of several palaces with intricately decorated walls and ceilings were the private residences and formal reception rooms of the sultans. The Nasrid Palace may only be seen on specific time-slot tickets โ€“ book online and in advance to ensure admission. Guided tours are optional but at busy times often the only way to guarantee tickets.
