This Romanesque high relief was only attached to the north wall of the church in Müstair during the Gothic period. It shows St John the Baptist baptising Jesus Christ – an event of more importance to Christianity than the more famous beheading of St John at the feast of Herod – graphically illustrated in the central apse of the church.
