The Ikea Hotel in Älmhult is a modern hotel with good deals next to the Ikea Museum near the Sweden Ikea head offices and a large Ikea outlet store.

The Ikea Hotell is a modern, family-friendly hotel offering very good deals for stays when traveling in Sweden. Bedrooms range from cheap cabins for single travelers to four-bed rooms for families or small groups. Large public spaces allow for socializing and relaxing in lounges, bars, work and play spaces. A typical Swedish breakfast buffet is included in all rates. The Ikea Hotel is young and fresh but many of the guests are older too and all seem to feel very welcome here.

Ikea Hotel Lounge Areas in Älmhult, SwedenThe Ikea hotel is modern hotel with some very useful typical Ikea facilities. The design of the hotel and decorations are modern and functional yet comfortable and inviting in a typical Scandinavian minimalist way.

Large public areas are spacious and well lit with a variety of meeting spaces for mingling and socializing. These areas range from sofa sets to high tables with barstools and play areas for families with children. All Ikea-style public room options are available here.

The gym is surprisingly large for a hotel while many may appreciate the large washing room with washing machine, drier, irons and similar facilities that are available for free.

The restaurant serves Swedish food – a bit more upscale and pricier than the fare on offer in Ikea shop restaurants. Breakfast is typical buffet style with a large selection.

Family Rooms in the Ikea Hotel

Ikea Hotel Family RoomA variety of rooms are available in the Ikea hotel with all offering modern designs and of course Ikea furniture. The Grand Lit is a classic double room with the Grand Lit Standard the same but in an older design. Rooms are not particularly big but comfortable enough with the large public areas intended for hanging out.

The two more interesting room options in the Ikea Hotel are the family rooms for four and the basic cabin room for singles:

The family rooms may sleep up to four in comfortable single beds with two bunk-bed style on a higher level. These are not classic shaky bunk beds so adults could easily sleep on the higher level too (while children under shouldn’t). All beds come with privacy curtains and own lights and electric outlets. The bathrooms are modern and very well lit.

The family rooms in the Ikea are of course aimed at families – it is comfortable for four but it is possible to also book a linked room for adults and have the children sleeping in the four-bed room.

The cabin rooms are simple, small rooms with a bed, TV, minimal storage space and a bathroom shared with the adjacent cabin room. All have a stool but for sitting down and relaxing it is necessary to move to the public areas.

Breakfast in theIkea Hotel in Älmhult, SwedenStandard Ikea Hotell prices range from around SEK500 (€50) for a single cabin room to SEK1000 (€100) for a single in a Grand Lit room. With advance reservations, a family room for four should be around SEK1500 (€150) with Ikea Family members paying only SEK900 (€90).

The buffet breakfast is included for free in all rates. Free coffee and tea are available at all times.

Free and fast wifi works well throughout the hotel.

Special season-dependent package deals are available for advance reservations that include for example dinner or golf green fees.

Big discounts are given for Ikea Family members – it doesn’t matter from which country.

Transportation to the Ikea Hotel

Modern Ikea Hotel in Älmhult, SwedenThe Ikea Hotell, Ikeagatean 1, 343 36 Älmhult, is across the parking lot from the Ikea Museum in the original first Ikea furniture store. Parking is therefore clearly not a problem.

Älmhult is on one of the major roads linking Malmö / Lund / Copenhagen with Stockholm making it a popular stopover as well as a good place to break the journey for the night without breaking the bank. Driving time is around 2 hours from Malmö, 2h30 from Copenhagen, and around 5h00 from Stockholm.

Traveling by train is also a good option – the Älmhult train station is right behind the Ikea Museum. Traveling time is 1h15 from Malmö, 1h00 from Lund, 3h20 from Stockholm and 2h15 from Copenhagen or Copenhagen Airport.

Many travelers visit Älmhult for the Ikea Museum and the large Ikea store with a large Fynd outlet store (and a few other factory outlet stores nearby).
