The central apse of St John’s abbey church in Müstair is dedicated to the patron saint of the church and monastery: St John the Baptist. The bright frescoes with the martyrdom of St John are Romanesque (around 1200) while the less bright paintings are Carolingian from the first half of the 9th century.
