Getting to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN) in western Germany from Frankfurt am Main (downtown city station or international airport) on public transportation is easiest and cheapest on the Flibco airport shuttle bus (sometimes also referred to as the Bohr Ominus or Ryanair bus). In 2026, the only Flibco bus service from Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN) goes to Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof, with all buses stopping en route at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA), Mainz, and Simmern. Good train connections are available from these cities to Wiesbaden, Heidelberg, Mannheim, and Ludwigsburg. Online reservations are sensible. The bus between Frankfurt-Hahn Airport and downtown Frankfurt am Main takes around 2h10.
NOTE in 2026: Public transportation and bus services to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN) are very limited. The Flibco airport buses (book online) to Frankfurt (via Mainz) or bus 615 to Koblenz are convenient, with trains from these cities available to all parts of Germany. Renting a car, taxi, or private transfers from Hahn may be very expensive but is an option for groups, families, or nearby destinations without public transportation links.

Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is a good 120 kilometers (75 miles) from the city of Frankfurt am Main. This small airport is very popular with low-cost airlines and is a major German hub of low-cost carrier Ryanair. Train services to Hahn are not available, making the bus the best cheap option for most passengers.
Fortunately, the bus service from Frankfurt-Hahn Airport to Mainz, downtown Frankfurt am Main, and Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) is well run with several buses operating on the route to coordinate with flight arrivals and departures. Buying Tickets for the Flibco / Bohr Bus to Airport Frankfurt-Hahn Flughafen
It is best to buy tickets online for the Flibco / Bohr bus journey to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport.
The full-fare ticket is around €18 to €25 depending on the time of travel. Travel to Mainz is only a few euros cheaper than going all the way to Frankfurt. Child fares and day-return tickets are no longer available, except for children under 4.
Bus tickets bought in advance online guarantee a seat if at the bus 10 minutes prior to departure. Tickets bought directly from the driver are a few euros more expensive and also guarantee a seat, as standing is not allowed on intercity buses. At Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, tickets may also be bought in the terminal building at the information desk or the Flibco Bus ticket stand. Payments may be made by credit card or cash in euros – the bus driver may not necessarily have change for large notes.
In contrast to the previous system, online purchases now guarantee a seat on the bus, but you must be at the bus stop ten minutes before the bus departs. If missing the bus due to a late flight arrival, the ticket remains valid for travel on the next bus with empty seats. Unused tickets are not refunded.
Free wifi and toilets are available on most buses (but not guaranteed).
Wheelchair users should contact Flibco at least three days prior to traveling to ensure that a suitable bus / equipment is available on the particular bus.
Flibco / Bohr Frankfurt-Hahn Airport Shuttle Bus Departure Points
The Flibco airport shuttle buses are mostly in green and white, often with “Operated by Bohr” logos. However, other buses may also be used but will display clearly that it is the Flibco bus.
Flibco buses on the Hahn-Frankfurt City route currently use the following departure and arrival stops:
- At Frankfurt-Hahn Airport – Flibco / Bohr bus stop is directly in front of Terminal 2 Departures. (Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is small; if you arrive at Terminal 1, simply walk through Terminal 2.)
- At Frankfurt International Airport – Flibco/ Bohr buses depart from Parking Lot P36 / Fernbusse near Terminal 1. From Terminal 1, follow signs to P36/Fernbusse. From Terminal 2, use the free shuttle bus directly to P36, or the free Skyliner train to Terminal 1. (Walking is not an option from Terminal 2.)
- At Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof – Flibco / Bohr Omnibuses stop at the bus stop marked Flibco or RYANAIR/Bohr in Stuttgarter Strasse at the south side of the station. Mannheimer Straße, where the bus previously stopped, runs parallel to the south exit (Süd) of Frankfurt station. From the station south exit, go right. Stuttgarter Straße is usually the second street making a T-junction with Mannheimer Straße behind the InterCity hotel. (If arriving very early, the train station is generally a more pleasant place to wait.)
- At Mainz Hauptbahnhof — Bus stop on the west of the station in Binger Schlag.
- Simmern — Krankenhaus (Hospital), Holzbacher Straße
