Low-cost airlines including Air Berlin, Easyjet, Germanwings, OLT, and Lufthansa offer cheap tickets and low airfares on direct, non-stop flights to Hamburg Airport (HAM) in Northern Germany.
From Hamburg Airport, over a hundred destinations can be reached on non-stop flights on both full-service and low-cost airlines. TUIfly has mostly flights from Hamburg Airport to popular sunny destinaneions in the Mediterranean regions. TUIfly flies from Hamburg to Antalya, Arrecife, Cologne/Bonn, Faro, Fuerteventura, Funchal, Heraklion, Hurghada, Jerez de la Frontera, Klagenfurt, Kos, Las Palmas, Mahon, Memmingen, Naples, Olbia, Palma de Mallorca, Porto, Rhodes, Salzburg, Tel Aviv, Tenerife-South, Thessaloniki, and Venice-Marco Polo.
Generally Germany’s cheapest budget airline Germanwings (4U) flies from Hamburgto Pristina, Split, Stuttgart, Toulouse, and Zagreb.
British budget airline Easyjet flies from Hamburg Airport up to twice daily to Basel (BSL) and London Luton (LTN).
Transportation from downtown Hamburg to Hamburg Airport by train became very easy with the recent opening of the final stretch of the S-Bahn train line to the airport. S-Bahn line S-1 runs from the airport every 10 minutes in 23 minutes to the Hauptbahnhof. Note on the train to the airport, use only the front three wagons as the train splits before reaching Hamburg Airport.
Taxis from downtown to Hamburg Airport is around €20. Airport shuttle services are of course also available and may be good value for small groups, families, or the infirm traveling with heavy luggage or at odd hours. Always compare as rates between different airport shuttle services can differ widely.
Buses are also available directly from Hamburg Airport to Kiel, LĂĽbeck, and Hannover.
