Berlin Welcome Card vs City Tour Card Berlin
Berlin has a confusing number of public transportation tickets, but for tourists, the main options are usually the Berlin Welcome Card, City Tour Card Berlin, and the Easy City Pass Berlin.
All travel cards include:
- Unlimited travel on Berlin public transportation
- Validity from 48 hours to 6 days
- Options for transportation in zone AB or ABC
- Discounts at attractions, tours, museums, restaurants, and entertainment venues
Transportation cards for zone AB cover central Berlin. Zone ABC additionally includes:
The Berlin Welcome Card generally offers the widest range of discounts and is the easiest “default choice” for most visitors. It is the “official tourist ticket” of the tourism office and comes closest to what most visitors expect from a city pass.
The Easy City Pass Berlin is usually slightly cheaper and may appeal to travelers mainly wanting transportation with a few additional discounts.
Best Berlin Passes for Museums & Sightseeing
Berlin Welcome Card Museum Island
The very popular Berlin Welcome Card Museum Island includes admission to the state museums on Museum Island and is often the best-value museum option for visitors spending several days in Berlin.
It is valid for 72 hours and includes transportation, museum admission, and all the discounts and benefits of the standard card.
Free timed-entry reservations may be required for some museums and major special exhibitions. If possible, book time slots for the Neues Museum and special exhibitions at the Alte Nationalgalerie (and the Pergamon Museum once it partially reopens from 4 June 2027).
Berlin Welcome Card All Inclusive
The Berlin Welcome Card All Inclusive is far more expensive than the other passes, but can be excellent value for first-time visitors planning intensive sightseeing.
Many expensive attractions are included completely rather than being discounted only, as with the cheaper cards.

Cheapest Berlin Tourist Passes Without Transportation
One of the best hidden deals in Berlin is the no-transportation version of the tourist discount cards.
These passes include attraction discounts without unlimited transportation and can pay for themselves after only two or three activities.
Berlin No-Transport Pass Prices
| Berlin Savings Pass | Price |
|---|---|
| Berlin Welcome Card | €10 (72h) / €15 (6 days) |
| Easy City Pass Berlin Light | €7 (7 days) / €14 (30 days) |
These passes are especially useful for:
- visitors staying centrally,
- travelers mainly walking or cycling,
- visitors already having transportation tickets,
- or tourists spending longer periods in Berlin.
Even Berlin residents may find it worth buying one of these passes to obtain certain large savings.
They are generally sold online only directly from Berlin Welcome Card and Easy City Pass.
Berlin Tourist Pass Price Comparison
When comparing city pass prices, keep in mind that transportation day tickets for Berlin AB are €11.20 (€12.90 for ABC). For the cheapest passes, you only need to save around an additional €1 per day to break even, and for longer passes, the transportation alone more than covers the price of the pass.

Are the Berlin Tourist Passes Worth It?
For most visitors, yes.
The transportation component alone already covers a large part of the ticket price. The additional attraction discounts can quickly produce real savings.
Even a single museum visit, sightseeing cruise, or hop-on-hop-off bus tour may recover much of the difference between a standard transportation ticket and a tourist discount pass.
The best savings are usually for:
- sightseeing cruises,
- guided tours,
- bike tours,
- bus tours,
- concerts and entertainment,
- and selected private museums.
The top state museums (SMB) no longer offer discounted tickets, except for free admission for Museum Island and All Inclusive passes. For serious museum visits, however, the separate Berlin Museum Pass may still offer better value.
Families Save Even More
These Berlin tourist cards are especially good value for families.
With transportation passes:
- up to three children aged 6–14 travel free with one adult,
- children also receive discounts at many attractions,
- children under 6 always travel free on Berlin public transportation.
One dog per paying adult may also travel free.
Except for the Welcome Card All Inclusive, no discount cards exist for children, students, or pensioners.
Where to Buy Berlin Welcome Cards
The Berlin Welcome Card is available:
- online,
- at BVG and S-Bahn ticket offices and vending machines,
- at Berlin Tourist Information Centers,
- at DB railway ticket counters,
- and at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER).
The multiple-day version is not always available from ticket machines or bus drivers.
Recommendation
For most tourists:
- choose the Berlin Welcome Card ABC if arriving at BER Airport or visiting Potsdam,
- choose the Easy City Pass Berlin AB if you mainly want cheap transportation,
- choose the Museum Island version for museum-heavy visits,
- and consider the All Inclusive card only if planning intensive sightseeing every day.
The Berlin City Tour Card and Easy City Pass Berlin seem to aim advertising more at younger travelers, but it is hard to find any activity not covered by the Welcome Card as well. Unless you find a specific event, venue, or experience in the long lists, it may be simplest to stick to the Welcome Card.

Discounts Offered by the Berlin Welcome Cards
The Berlin Welcome Card is the “official tourist ticket” of the tourism office and comes closest to what most visitors would expect from a city pass.
The Welcome Card has the highest coverage of traditional tourist sights, attractions, and formal museums. However, the best savings are usually for activities such as bike tours, boat trips, bus tours, and guided walks. The biggest cash discounts are for concerts and stage performances. Good savings deals are also possible at some restaurants and souvenir shops.
The largest portion of the price of these tourist passes is for public transportation. However, further savings can be significant too. Discounts of at least 25% are given on admission ticket prices at many museums, including the DDR, Deutschlandmuseum, German Technology, Humboldt Forum, Berlin Jewish Museum, Haus am Checkpoint Charlie, and a generous 37% at Museum Barberini in Potsdam.
Discount pass holders generally also save at least 25% on city sightseeing bus tours of Berlin and cruises on the Spree River and other Berlin waterways. Similar discounts are granted to most walking and cycling tours, including the very popular Berlin walking and cycling tours. The biggest single discounts are for theatre shows, but it may be difficult to actually cash in on these discounts, as the tickets may usually only be bought on the same day or a few days in advance.
In contrast to recent practice, many of the state museums (SMB) are no longer giving discounts to all Welcome Cards. The main Museum Islands are free with the Berlin Welcome Card Museum Island and the All Inclusive, but no discounts for other visitors. Similarly, the Gemäldegalerie, Hamburger Bahnhof, and Neue Nationalgalerie are only free with the All Inclusive card. (For serious museum visits, nothing beats the 3-day Berlin Museum Pass.)
